Three Years to compete....

After He was publicly introduced, that He was the one that they are waiting for, the man with the Mission of Saving the World form its Sin, what did He do? Did he immediately went to work? Did He started gathering the people and convince then some more that He is indeed the Man that they are waiting for? Did he immediately lay down His plan and recruit leaders? Did He formed an army? Did he started fund raising for His campaign? Did he went to the authorities and assert His right as the Man that they are waiting for? Surprisingly, none of these first things that an authorized leader should be done was done by the "Man with the Mission" Instead, He backed off and went to the dessert and for 40 days He was there alone praying and fasting. After He was introduced, He was nowhere to find. The people whom the "Introducer" pointed to Him are waiting and looking for Him. Was he a coward Leader? where is he now? But the Man with the Mission was never disturbed of what others would say, He knows that the Mission was extra ordinary "Saving the whole world" wow!!! the whole entire planet!!! The task is huge, no telecommunication, no airplanes, no internet, no high powered firearms nothing but a simple Man known as the son of a carpenter from the Province of Galilee. So with the huge task ahead and with nothing in His hand, He choose the right thing to do. To spend time with the one who sent Him, and focused on inquiring, asking, get encouragement from the one who is the source of everything. Forty days and forty nights,He just did that, an uninterrupted time with the overall planner of what he is to do. When He came out of the dessert, he is full of confidence "He is going to do the impossible Mission in 3 years" What can He accomplish in three years? Can he get His relatives believe on Him in three years? Can He even go out of His place in three years? If He start walking can he tour the whole world in 3 years? .... hehehehe hardly, that is I am really excited to tell you how He is going to do it...

The Introducer...

All the towns and villages were agitated by a man near the dessert. This man was shouting as if he was crazy. He was wearing a camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist and was eating only locust and honey. But when people started to stop by and listen to what he was saying, they recognized that his message makes sense. they recognized that he was talking about the thing that they've been waiting for. In my previous post I was telling you that almost all of the people where the "Man with the Mission" was born were expecting His coming. People read from the same old Book, that before the coming of the Man with the Mission somebody will be preparing His way, and suddenly, this strange looking man was there shouting about the coming of the Man . So the news easily spread around and multitude of people were coming to him to hear for themselves what he was saying. Basically, his message was "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near" Upon hearing this, people were weeping and submitting themselves to this man. However, this man did not fail to tell the people that he was not the one that they are waiting for, but he came ahead to prepare the way and in order to introduce Him to them.
The time has come for the Man with the Mission to come to his introducer and be be declared the "The Man that they have been Waiting for, the Man with the Mission". the ceremony was short and done in the river but it was very powerful because of the extraordinary thing that happened. The Spirit came like a dove and the voice was heard testifying that this Man is the Man with the Mission. The Introducer then started to fade away as he continued to point people to follow the Man with the Mission.
The introducer continue to shout about corruptions, immorality which cost him to land in jail because he was now talking against the sins of the leaders during that time. If the not because of the respects and honor he received from the populace he could easily end up in beating to death. But during the birthday of the leader, his head was asked as a prize for a dance performance. and that was end of his role as the introducer.
I believe that each one of has role to play in this life. Do you know your role? are willing to pursue that role until the end, like the introducer?

They Seem to be Expecting...

Almost all the early people who recognized Him seemed to have a pre-knowledge that somebody was coming, and everyone seems to be waiting for this Man. so when the strange creature told them that He was to be born (His mother, step father, auntie and uncle) , or He was already born (the animal keeper, the respectable man, the old man and woman) there seems to be no more trace of disbelief about the news. In other words the news that "He has come" was not a strange news but rather a climax of the news that they have been hearing and waiting for so long.... well, where did they get this pre-knowledge? Certainly, there is one source where they get this knowledge, it seems to be that their expectations of His coming was synchronized. You are right, they have a common Book written by their forefathers which are passed on to them. Aside from this book, there was the word of mouth about what happened in the past. And this book is very interesting because what was written there several centuries ago are now starting to unfold before their very eyes. Ahh no person will not be amazed if he happen to read a book written 1500 BC and while reading he is seeing what was written on it. This Book is the same reference that I am using in writing this Articles. One of the reason why I believe this Book is there are so many things written on its First part (1500 B.C - 400 B.C.) were just happening and is written in its Second Part (Last half of the century 40A.D. - 95 A.D.) . One of the most important figure which can be found all over the First Part of the Book is this Man that I am talking about. Let me share to you a link to verify that this Man is authentic. Amazing Kid..

There was not much records about His growth from childhood until he was 32 years old but there are two sentences that described the growth of this Man with the Mission.
" the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
And He grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. " I can see at least four areas that this Man grew. Physically- He grew up strong, probably because His step father was a carpenter and it is not presumptuous that he helped his father for their living. Intellectually - It says that He was full with wisdom, not just knowledge but wisdom. Wisdom is an applied knowledge for righteous living. Spiritually- the grace of God was upon Him and in favor with God. Socially- He did not only enjoy God's favor but also favor from men. He must have a very good relationship among His neighbors and lived a very balanced life. His growth is what everyone wanted to follow. A good guide also for rearing children.

There was one event recorded about His teenage years and that was when He was 12 years old. Yearly, his parents will always go the the capital city to celebrate a certain feast, the Capital City was about 3 days walk from their place, but it never a boring journey since their friends and relatives are traveling together, you could imagine their playful walk and uninterrupted storytelling, and when tired they will stop and eat their packed foods, sharing and comparing foods etc. etc. After the feast they will travel the same route back home. It was one of this journey back home that suddenly His parents after a day traveled noticed that the 12 year old boy was not part of the caravan. So they have other choice but tho go back to the Capital to look for Him. You can imagine how upset His parents were. When they arrived at the Capital they found their Son in the middle of teachers and learned men debating. So instead of getting mad they were amazed how their little boy able to engage in that debate with confidence, the teachers and the scholars were also stunned by the boy, of course if I am the father I would feel very proud of my Son. I would probably clap for every rebuttal he'll make. And the amazing thing was he was at home where he was, the Temple, their center of worship that it was fine with Him even if His parents did not came back to look for Him.

We'll we may ask, who is this little boy? Where did His wisdom coming from? Why is He at home in the Temple?

The Oldies Got it First.....

There are few people who recognized early this man with a mission. As mentioned in my previous posts, there are His mother, His step father, the group of Animal caretakers and the group of respectable men from far away places. Of course the king who almost killed Him had a hint of His birth. I would like to add few more who were certain that indeed the baby that was born was the Man with the Mission.
One of those was a couple of old age, in fact they knew about Him and His coming ahead of His own mother and step father. The message again came from the strange creature who has been doing the legwork in preparation of His coming. The old woman was the cousin of His mother and the old man, her husband was a religious worker working in their place of worship. the message of the strange creature for the old man was not directly about the Man with the Mission but about their own son who will play a big role in introducing this Man with the Mission to people around their place. For them, the highlight of the news was about them bearing a child in their old age. Hehehehehe, They've been waiting for that for a long time... In their culture, it was a disgrace for couple not to have a child, so, somehow they have been living as a couple ridiculed for a long time for not having a child. But the time has come.... and in their old age!! The old woman got pregnant ahead of her cousin, and one day when the two pregnant women met, the child in the old woman's womb recognized the child in another womb and was jumping and leaping inside the womb. That strange movement of the child was very noticeable as declared by his old mother hehehehe. I wonder how does it feel to have something leaping and jumping inside your womb. So this was the time they knew who is the Man with Mission even if He was not born yet.
Another old man who knew He was the one because he was living a good life and was promised by the Deity that he will see the Man with the Mission before he die. And when the time of the presentation of the child in the house of worship came, the Deity told him to go to and have a glance of the child. Wow!!! this is the moment that he has been waiting for... he did not waste his time and went... The parents the child were surprised with what the old man said.

Another old woman had a privilege to know and see Him as a baby. These old woman has been staying in the house of worship for long, in fact she almost live there. Day and night she was wishing that she could see this Child before she dies. that same moment that the old man saw the child that was also the time that this old woman had a glance of Him.

So these are the early birds, all oldies, what was common among them aside from their ages? We'll I guess was all of them were expecting the coming of this "Man with the Mission" . Where did they get this idea that this man is coming?

He was almost killed!!! ...

When the group of respectable men came to pay tribute to Him, they happened to passed by the King's Palace, because for a short time they missed the star that was guiding them. Well the king politely gave them some hint which he solicited fro his adviser where these men should go and told them that if they found the child he begged them to comeback and inform him so that he too can pay a tribute. Definitely it was a trap, he is the reigning king! what a heck!! these people are saying that there is another King that was born!... Now tell me. if you are the king what will you do? you're right, you put this threat down as early as possible.

Again the strange creature have done his role, he warned the group of respectable men not to go back to the Palace and take another route back to their home. After sometime, the king noticed that he was tricked by those respectable men. He got furious and ordered to murdered all male children, 2 years old and below, thinking that if what those respectable people say is true then He must be below two years old. and therefore could not escape his order of infanticide.

Before this happened the strange creature has warned the boy's parents of what will happen and told them to leave the place and escape. they stayed outside the king's territory and they did not come not until the king died and was replaced by another king. So part of His childhood was spent in a foreign land.

The role of this strange creature was very significant. Who are these strange creatures? how they look like? definitely they are not human being, they possess certain supernatural characteristics, but it appeared to be " that they are there to served this Person with the Mission". Who is these Person then that he has these kind of servants?

His Humble Birth....

While this Person was conceived supernaturally but His birth was the opposite. His mother was about to give birth to Him when suddenly there was a approved law that everyone must registered themselves to their place of origin which is about 3 days travel by foot. With possibly a donkey with them, the whole family traveled where His (step)father was born. When they arrived in the place it was her time to give birth. They look for place where they can stay but to no avail, every house was just full because of so many visitors who came, also to register. So they settle on a makeshift where the animals are kept during night time. His father probably just moved the animals a little bit and gathered some hays and made it a bed for his wife and the baby. Probably the house nearby helped in the delivery but generally there was no complication and the baby was healthy.

Comparing the Mission of this boy and His humble birth, they are miles apart. At this point, nobody has recognized this great man with great Mission except His parents. If I was his (step) father I will begin to doubt that strange creature told me several months ago. As a mother though, she knows that this baby is extra ordinary because of the way He was conceived, she knows that she had no physical relations with anybody when she got pregnant. He was pondering with all of these thoughts when suddenly a group of animal caretakers arrived in the place, they said that they came to pay a tribute to their baby. This somehow cleared some doubts from his (step) father. How can these animal care taker knew that the baby is not an ordinary baby? In their conversation he knew that the same strange creature who met with him few months ago is the same creature who told these bunch of animal care taker that the Savior was born and told them exactly where he was born, that is why they are there. Now If am his (step)father my continence would change, I would believe anybody who truly orchestrated this things. It was hard to believe but if it is right in front of me who can refuse to believe it.

Not only the animal caretaker came, after few weeks another group of people came, this time these are not ordinary people, they were men of respect and belong to the high level of their society and brought with them gifts for the child. In excitement, the parents of the boy asked? "How did you know? Their answer was, a star in the sky guided them until they reach the place. By the way they came from far away places. So when they returned home, the news about this person has already spread out before it spreads out in his place of birth.

Mission Impossible ....

I mentioned in my previous post that this Person was born with a Mission. What is His Mission? well, the strange creature mentioned it when he told His mother's boyfriend, the Mission is "to save His people from their sins". this Mission indicates several issues that makes this a "Mission Impossible". Here are some reasons why this is impossible.

• How can He identify His people?


• Will His people recognize Him?


• Will His people recognize that they are in sin?


• What is His qualifications to become a savior?


• Will the people believe Him and His claims?


• Will the people finally trust Him?
  

Imagine yourself meeting this Person and told you that "you are doomed and you need someone who can save you and that is me".... How would you react? After some thoughts you will probably agree that His Mission is Mission impossible.

Beginning to know the mysterious Person...

The first meeting with the guy was the beginning of long and regular meetings and most of the time its a one on one meeting. Our discussion revolved around the Person He introduce to me. Actually the name of the Person was not completely strange, I've been hearing about Him since childhood but I must admit that what I knew about this Person is distorted and until know I think I have not known Him fully but with the limited knowledge I have of Him is enough to convince me that this person is worth building my life on

My relationship with this Person is quite strange because:

• We live in different time - He was born about 2000 years ago but I was born in 1962.
• He was a middle eastern nationality while I am Filipino.
• We speak different language, although He is a multi-lingual that he understand all languages on earth one hundred percent.
• We did not met physically face to face, I just met Him through a Book and some words of mouth.
  

Despite these strange relationship what is important I would say is I can communicate with Him and He could communicate with me now! this makes the relationship works.

This person was born out of wedlock, when His mother was about to marry her boyfriend an unbelievable thing happened. Her mother got pregnant without having sex with anyone. How did it happened? It was a supernatural event. His mothers boyfriend upon knowing that she was pregnant had planned to break up the relationship quietly. I can imagine of course the dilemma, the hurts and feeling of betrayal that the guy has. But another strange thing happen. The night before he planned to break up the relationship, a supernatural being appeared to him and told him not to be afraid to take his girlfriend as wife. After all her girlfriend did not betrayed him but the boy inside her womb is a Person with a Mission. The mission is global and very important because the whole mankind will perish without knowing this Person that his girlfriend is about to give birth. Wow! I can just imagine if I was the guy, what should I do? or what will you do if you are the guy? Well if these are not all supernatural, I will immediately dismissed the proposal of this strange creature. I would wish that all these are just dreams that soon I will wake-up and find my beloved girlfriend whole and beautiful. But it was true and a decision has to be made. The boyfriend agreed and took the words of this supernatural being as is. He married the girl and controlled himself until she gave birth the Person I am talking about. I would like to thank this guy personally because if he refused to take the girl as a wife a dreadful thing may happen to his girlfriend. In their culture, getting pregnant without a husband is an adultery and it carry the punishment of stoning to death. If it happened I have no way of knowing this Person and life on earth will be hopeless, it will just revolve around "eating to living, living to eat" life and then die.

And I meet the Person...

I feel a little bit confident living in the City. I survived the most difficult time in college for a country boy. I begun to make friends and started to speak the language, the worst is, the first words I learned was cursing words... I feel big whenever i speak those words. At last I am a city boy. I had a classmate who spoke my native language and naturally drawn to her because of that. She had her circle of friends but I never bother to relate with them. But one day she ask me if I wanted to have a discussion group which I immediately said Yes. The first meeting was only with a guy who is in the higher year than me. He begun by asking me a very funny question " Do you have 15 minutes, so that I can share to you something?" he asked. "Of course that's the reason I was there!" I was having a hint that he will be talking religious thing. Personally, I like to debate on religious issues because my mother has been telling a lot of stories about beliefs. Some I believe some I do not specially that I do not see her religiosity affecting her way of dealing with people and her way of life as whole. Practical Living is different from her religiosity.
Back to our meeting... He said that a Person up there loves me but I am hindered to see and feel that love because there is a gap between me and that Person. But He gave the remedy for that Gap by dying just to reach me out. Uh uh! I never knew of a Person who loves me and fanatically died just to let me know. That's ridiculous!!!. But then he pulled out a book where he read what he was saying.... Hmm that's interesting... and I begun to notice this Person that later captivated my heart ....

The Beginning

I was a shy country boy who happen to be in the urban area where everything seems new. I step in College with very innocent look and more innocent in action. As a poor boy, I have to bring my lunch in school since food in the canteen was beyond my pocket's capacity. At lunch time I go up to the highest floor of the building and quickly eat my packed lunch not wanting to be seen by anybody. I thought I was the only one bringing a packed lunch and that others are just buying their food in the canteen. I was drinking the water coming out of the faucet in a laboratory room. I've been doing that for almost a semester. One day after a quick lunch I went down to meet a friend, passing by the canteen I was surprised with what I saw. Guess what? .. You're correct, there are so many students and employees eating there with their packed lunch!!! But still it did not gave me courage to eat my lunch in the canteen, now my worry was my food is not as good as their packed lunch.
My pocket money is just enough for my fare to school and back, but one day I lost my 25 cents. It means I have to walk one of the rides back home. I was taking two rides from home to school and back. the first ride from school is shorter than the other ride, and I have to choose which stretch am I going walk. I was ashamed to be seen by my classmates walking home so I took the shorter ride from school and walked the longer stretch back home. It took me one and a half hour to reach home. My sister was already worrying that I might got lost.
My grades during the first semester were not good either, I felt that the lessons are going so fast and it was beyond my capacity to comprehend. I almost failed in 3 subjects and one those is Mathematics a subject that will determine whether you are for engineering or not. But anyway my first year has ended.... and a little bit adjusted in city life and in college life...

This blog is created to journal my personal journey in living a life that is built around the Person I met in 1979 while in college.
